Signal box moves,  Broseley projects (BPL) have planned and arranged with the help of it’s varied supply chain moves of two signal box’s constructed in the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s, both signal boxes had seen there operational life come to an end and were awaiting demolition.

Ecclesbourne valley heritage railway acquired both over a period of time first was relocated to Shottel Station good yard to be refurbished and then moved 500mt down the line to its new location at shottel user works crossing ready for the re-signalling project to begin on the heritage line.

Sneinton signal box similar to Shottal with a little difference this box had a transport move of over 60 mile by road with a police escort.

The Signal box stood at the RIDC Tuxford, the signal box became surplus to requirements and had to be removed for the RIDC network rail land, again Ecclesbourne heritage Rail way acquired it, BPL were asked to provide total technical support the operation to move and transport.   • Stage 1  site visit and ascertain the condition of the signal box which has been in the natural elements for 100 years.
  • Stage 2 Access requirements
  • Stage 3 Devise a lift plan and the equipment to safely lift the Signal box without damage of the 6.5t building
  • Stage 4 Contact the supply chain cranes and HGV transport and cost the move
  • Stage 5 Confirm movement order requirements and the reequipment of the police escort
  • Stage 5 Draw up method statements and pass to Network rail for acceptance
  • Stage 6  Set an movement date and confirm all requirements from pick up to final drop of and route to be taken
  • Stage 7 The day of the move
